Gift Card FAQs

Purchasing and Using Mark's Gift Cards

Where can I use the physical Mark's Gift Cards? How do I redeem them?

Gift cards purchased in store are valid both in store and online at Marks.com. Gift cards can be redeemed online during the payment stage of checkout. The gift card number and PIN number (located on the back of the card) can be used to redeem the amount on the card as payment. Gift cards that do not have a PIN number on the back or Store Merchandise cards that do not have a PIN number on the back cannot be redeemed online. If you wish to redeem one of these gift cards for an online purchase please visit us in store to exchange your card. If you are unable to visit us in store please contact our customer service team for further instructions at 1-866-339-1626 and select option #3 (store related inquiry).

What happens when I return something I paid for with a Gift Card?

If a gift card was used for payment and you return an item to our store the refund will be in the form of a Mark’s gift card. Note: Any item that is assembled and/or not within its original product packaging with all paperwork, parts and accessories must be returned to a Mark’s retail store location. Credit will then be issued at the discretion of store management in the form of a Mark’s Retail Store Merchandise Card. Mark’s Retail Store Merchandise Cards do not have PIN numbers on the back and therefore cannot be redeemed online.

What if my gift card or Gift Card does not have enough money on it for my purchase?

You can use the gift card as a partial payment for your order in store or online. The remaining purchase balance will need to be paid for using an additional method of payment. Forms of payment that can be used online are PayPal, credit card, Visa/MasterCard Debit or another Mark’s/L’Equipeur gift card. In-store payment options include cash, credit card, debit, or another Mark’s gift card.

What if my Gift Card had money left on it after my purchase?

If the amount of your gift card is MORE than the total order amount the remaining balance will be stored on your gift card for future use.

Can my Gift Card expire?

No, your gift cards do not have an expiry date.

When I try to redeem by gift card online, it says invalid gift card number.

Gift cards that have 10 digits are invalid online, they must have 19 or 20 digits and a PIN.  Please contact our Customer Service team at 1-866-339-1626 and select option #3 (store related inquiry).  They can check the card for you and help you with the online redemption.

Gift Card Scams

If you are being asked to buy a gift card to pay someone, STOP! It’s a scam. Gift cards are for gifts, not payments. Anyone who demands payment by gift card is always a scammer. This includes a stranger or someone pretending to be a loved one who calls and says they are in trouble, who then ask you to provide gift card numbers to help them.  Hang up and contact your loved one directly. If you’re still feeling pressured into buying gift cards: STOP. HANG UP THE PHONE. Take a moment to calm down, and if you still have concerns look up the correct information for the company or agency before calling. Don’t always trust your caller ID. Scammers can manipulate a caller ID to look like a number of a friend, a legitimate company or government agency. No legitimate company or agency will ever ask you to make a payment by gift card

  • The Canadian Government will never ask you to buy gift cards to pay taxes or make a payment. This includes the CRA.
  • The police will never ask you to buy gift cards to pay a fine or help someone get out of jail. This includes a local police department or the RCMP.
  • Banks will never ask you to buy gift cards to store your money
  • Tech support from a company will never ask you to buy a gift card to pay to fix your computer
  • A legitimate business or professional will never demand gift cards for an emergency payment or to claim a prize

  • Already Purchased Gift Cards As Part Of A Scam?

  • STOP and don’t go any further
  • Do not text or send photos of the gift card numbers or the PINs that go with them
  • Do not read off the numbers to anyone
  • Contact your bank as soon as possible, using the number on the back of your debit or credit car

Fraudulent Gift Cards

Don’t purchase a gift card if it appears that the packaging has been damaged, altered, or manipulated in any way. Select another gift card or ask someone who works at that store for help.
